Lesson 5 – Una gita mancata!

1) Listen to the following dialogue:

UNA GITA MANCATA!

Alice: Ciao.
Laura: Ciao.
Alice: Sei riuscita poi and andare alla sagra delle olive a Villamassargia?
Laura: Ci sarei andata ma ero da sola, avrei tanto voluto vedere i 700 ulivi plurisecolari de S’Ortu Mannu!
Alice: Peccato!
Alice: Dai, vedrai che ci sarà un’altra occasione!
Laura: Speriamo! Avrei almeno organizzato un’escursione per la prossima settimana, ma dovrò lavorare.

Some verbs construct the condizionale composto with the auxiliary essere: andare, uscire,entrare. 

Andare (to go)

Sarei andato
Saresti andato
Sarebbe andato
Saremmo andati
Sareste andati
Sarebbero andati

Uses:

Sarei andata ma ero da sola, avrei tanto voluto vedere gli ulivi secolari.

A wish not fulfilled in the past.

Avrei almeno organizzato un’escursione per la prossima settimana, ma dovrò lavorare.

A wish not fulfilled in the future.

3) Observe the position of the pronoun with the imperativo diretto positive and negative:

Vedi la strada davanti a te? Percorrila per 200 metri.

Imperativo diretto positivo + pronome form a single word.

Dimmi cosa è successo, per favore!

If the direct imperative is monosyllabic, the consonant of the pronoun doubles.

No, non prenderla o No, non la prendere.

Imperativo diretto negativo + pronome form a single word (the infinitive loses the final vowel) or the pronoun precedes the verb.

Uses:

Entra nell’asse mediano di scorrimento; continua sulla Strada Statale 131; prendi l’uscita verso Nuoro/ Olbia.

Give directions 

State zitti!

Give orders

Prenditi un paio di giorni di ferie! Non vedi quanto sei stanco?
