Italian Present Tense
The present tense is used to talk about things which happen regularly or are happening at the time of speaking.
- actions happening at the time of speaking:
La mamma prepara la cena.
(Mum is getting dinner ready.)
I ragazzi giocano a calcio nel cortile.
(The boys are playing football in the yard.)
Giulia legge un libro.
(Giulia is reading a book.)
Oggi ho molto da fare al lavoro.
(I have a lot to do at work.)
- actions which happen regularly:
Paolo va in palestra tre volte alla settimana.
(Paolo goes to the gym three times a week.)
Ogni giorno Lidia e Giorgio accompagnano la loro/Loro bambina a scuola.
(Every day Lidia and Giorgio take their children to school.)
Ogni mattina Nadia fa colazione alle nove.
(Every day Nadia has breakfast at nine o’clock.)
Tutte le domeniche sono a casa di mia mamma.
(Every Sunday I am at my mum’s house.)
